An Indian potter said to me – if people stop buying my pots I will stop making them – my approach is if they stop selling lets try making something they want!

The Kutch project aimed to investigate and resolve whether quality products can be manufactured in an artisanal pottery environment using existing making and firing methods. It deals with a survey of the craft in the region, looking at markets both home and export, and how to resolve issues that are clearly leading to the slow elimination of pottery skills that have been practised for centuries.
